Woodflock VII is now in the planning stages! Can you believe that we’re getting ready for our seventh year? Our Summer Camp for Flamingoheads is turning out to be quite an annual event. It’s grown from around 40 people the first year, to as many as 300. The campsite is spacious and open, with plenty of room, so we didn’t even realize how much the party had grown. Join in the fun, but don’t hesitate. Spaces will fill up fast. See you there!

WHO: Flamingoheads of all ages welcome! Children under 12 are free with paid adult. (Trouble-making cousins are $50 extra.) Pets are welcome, as long as they get along well with others and are restrained on leashes while going about the campsite and are properly cleaned up after.
WHEN: Memorial Day Weekend. Friday, May 27 (Park opens at 8 AM) til Monday, May 30 @ Noon. For folks not able to make it all three days, we have DAY PASSES available. Each day goes from 9 AM to 9 AM and costs $115. See the schedule below under “EVENTS.” If you’re wanting to get there Thursday night, there is plenty of RV and car parking just outside the campsite.

Thanks to Google Maps, we are able to give you this Bird’s Eye View of camp, giving you a better idea of what to expect. Also, you’ll want to make note of the cabin numbers if you want to reserve one. Due to demand and to avoid confusion, we’re having to reserve them this year. More information about that below.
A concert each night with Antsy and the Troubs! Special guests! (TBA) Activities all day long, and one great meal each day!
Friday Night will be pretty relaxed, we’ll get to know everybody, we’ll eat, we’ll gather, we’ll get our campers, tents and cabins set up, and as the sun goes down, we’ll head to the campfire and start to play music. Dinner meals and a hearty, delicious brunch each morning will be provided each night by our wonderful Sue Butler, our catering guru. (We’ll be on our own for all other meals, but there are always plenty of leftovers.) Meals will be basic camping fare, such as grilled beef, chicken, a little seafood, some vegetables, potatoes, etc.

A loose schedule of events:
Saturday: We’ll have our always wonderful and infamous Chili Cook-off at dinner time. Bring your best chili recipe. Winners receive Free Troub Stuff and a three-month supply of Beano™. Last year’s competition was intense, but wounds have healed, the various parties have made up, and restraining orders have been lifted. It’s all good now. But we’ll see how things go this year.
Sunday: Creativity and Songwriting Workshop after lunch by Antsy and guests (Bring your poetry and music for an in-the-round musical show and tell) The judging of the Campsite Decoration Contest (Winner receives something fun and angry scowls from other contestants.) Special guests (TBA) and Antsy and the Troubs will finish out the night, playing your requests.
Every Day: Spontaneous Picking & Singing Circles which Antsy and members of the band are known to join in on (Bring your instruments!), Impromptu Frisbee throwing (If Antsy’s around, there will be Frisbees.)
Every Day: Guided Meditation with Hilary Nichols A non-denominational gathering to get things started peacefully every morning around the campfire. Hilary’s husband Bruce Wandmayer accompanies the hour with freestyle dobro. We usually hang around long after comparing notes on recent growth spurts, overcoming of difficulties, and other life lessons. It’s a nice way to start the day. You’ll wish Hilary and Bruce could wake you up every morning.
WEATHER: The weather will likely be warm with cool nights. There is plenty of shade for the daytime, but bring a jacket for night time. Also, bring a boat, canoe or kayak if you have one! The Sacramento River and Lake Red Bluff are adjacent to our Camp Area! A pleasant bike and hike trail head is located at the base of camp, and provides a nice opportunity to get off the beaten path.

There are plenty of tent spaces. There are 9 screened sleeping cabins available, but you must bring your own air mattress and bedding. Showers and toilets available for ALL Woodflockers. AND repeat attendees will be happy to know we are providing alternative – NEW – FLUSH TOILETS! – NEW – On site! WoooHOOOO!
ARTS & CRAFTS: Our friends Katie and Bill will have their now famous Craft Tent with a plethora of fun-filled activities for kids large and small. As always, they have some cool stuff in the works already. We’ll find out what they have up their collective sleeves when we get there. Activities each day, practically all day.
SPIRITUAL/REFLECTIVE/MEDITATIVE ACTIVITIES: Our friend Hilary Nichols starts each morning off with guided meditation, musically accompanied by her husband, our very own Bruce Wandmayer. Hilary worked for years as a holistic chiropractor, and now focuses on healing through meditation and energy work, and is a frequent guest at women’s retreats throughout the world.
Antsy is on hand all three days for one-on-one guitar, poetry and storytelling sessions, sharing new songs, new artwork, and ideas from his sketchbooks and notebooks. As Flamingoheads can attest, Antsy’s workshops may start with music or poetry, but always end up working through life’s big questions, and sharing in the joy of belonging to the human family. Last year, he was joined by the band members as they shared rough mixes from the album “Somewhere Past These Gravel Roads‘ letting Woodflockers hear it before anyone else. Musical guests are known to drop by, creating spontaneous jams, creative insight to life and frequent laughter. Woodflockers have also provided some unforgettable moments as they’ve shared poetry and songs with the group. Simply put, nobody ever knows exactly what’s going to happen, and we like it that way.
CABINS: We have 9 cabins to choose from. They sleep 4 comfortably, but you can fit up to 8 if you choose. You can have one all to yourself or share with up to 7 people (But we’re tellin’ ya, that’s gonna be cramped. Stick to 4 each). Due to high demand and to avoid confusion, it’s become necessary to reserve each cabin. It’s first come, first serve, and you can reserve your cabin only by e-mailing Antsy at firstname.lastname@example.org. No other arrangements can be accepted. (This helps us have our ducks, er flamingos in a row.) She will mark off the cabin you’ve reserved, according to the bird’s eye-view diagram of camp (ABOVE), and choose your cabin. Cabins are $100 each for the weekend, or $25/person at occupancy of 4. If two of you want to go in on one, it would be $50 each, and so on.
TRAILS: Work off the chili on hiking and biking trails which wind around the perimeter of the campsite. There are also plenty of open areas for games, etc. Special guests (TBA) will get the night of music started, and Antsy and the Troubs will take it from there with a full blown rockin’ concert.
FOOD: Two awesome meals each day (Breakfast and Dinner) will be prepared by a great caterer and food service worker who has a special knack for all things delicious. For lunch (if you’re still hungry), bring your own food and drinks or simply buy what you need at nearby markets just minutes away. Cook at any number of our BBQ grills and eat with us at one of the on-site shelters available for everyone’s use. For the more urban campers there are a variety of restaurants within a 10 minute drive from the campsite.
